As I write this it is a week before we celebrate the Resurrection (though, in reality, every day should be a celebration of the Resurrection), our congregation is experiencing a variety of emotions. There is sadness because of the loss of several beloved members of the congregation since the beginning of the year. But there is also joy and celebration which is experienced through both ministries and worship. Among other very positive attributes of the congregation is a very strong sense of caring for those within and those outside of the church family. I have seen you put your arms around the hurting and offer comfort. Love and compassion are more than words. And you are to be commended.
I am very optimistic about the future of the congregation. Will you look the same ten years from now? I doubt it. But hopefully the loving spirit you possess will continue. Programs and the way we do church might need to change. But as Paul reminded us in his letter to the church at Corinth it is all about love. And that is my prayer for the congregation. Keep on loving. And the rest will fall into place.
I’m looking forward to worshiping with you.
