Heart of Kentucky Operation Christmas Child Area Team
This team is made up of year-round volunteers from Boyle, Garrard, Lincoln, Marion, Mercer, and Washington counties.  Lexington Avenue Baptist Church is well represented on this team.  Kathy Kendrick (daughter of the late Kitty Baird) is our Area Coordinator, and she works so diligently for this mission effort that the joke is,”When does she find time to practice law.”  The Community Relations team has Shawna Stomberger and newly appointed, Dawn Camic, working outside the church walls to educate, and enlist organizations and businesses to pack shoeboxes for children in the most difficult places in our world.
Carol Long and Donna Fegenbush continue to serve on the Church Relations team for the Heart of KY. They speak at area churches, share the twelve-week discipleship program, The Greatest Journey, offered to children who receive a shoebox, and encourage new church partners and prayer partners. Carol uses her talent in music to bless at many area events. Donna serves on the Kentucky Women’s Missionary Union Executive Board and works with WMU’s national project for OCC.  In recent years at the State Mission Celebration for KY WMU, you will find Gail Hester, Steve Fegenbush, and Connie French from Lincoln county (Connie helped in our VBS last year) manning the Operation Christmas Child table and teaching churches new ideas for “Gospel Opportunities”.
Lexington Avenue Baptist has been very blessed to have a Operation Christmas Child Project Leader for years.  Linda Kurtz has attended OCC kick-off events, and Project Leader seminars faithfully. She orders the Go Boxes, fixes bulletin boards and displays, manages the year-round collection boxes, and recruits the LABC team of volunteers.
In 2015 Boyle county packed 7112 Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes.  The state of Kentucky packed 235,706! That was an 8% increase from the year before. Thank you Lexington Avenue Baptist for being a part of this mission project to children of our world. Please pray for the customs’ procedure in countries where boxes are delivered. Please pray for the persecuted churces in these countries.  Pray for the difficult, war-torn places, the refugee camps, the orphanages, and the isolated places that have not heard the gospel of Hope!

Ruby Cline-Eaton to Raise Money to Fight Cancer
I am taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids’ cancer! My goal is to ride 175 miles throughout the month of June and I will be pedaling as hard as I can to reach my target. I am doing this because cancer is the largest killer of children from disease in the U.S. – 38 children die of cancer every week. It will be tough, but it’s nothing compared to what these brave kids face every day of their lives as they battle this terrible disease. Kids should be living life, not fighting for it. So I am taking on this personal challenge to raise funds to give these kids the brighter futures they deserve...but I need your help. All funds raised will support Children’s Cancer Research Fund to continue their work to develop innovative treatments and find a cure for childhood cancer. Please support my challenge and join me in the fight to end childhood cancer by making a donation through my fundraising page. Here’s the link to my page:
Thank you for your support, Ruby Cline-Eaton
