Morocco Trip, October 3-14, 2013
A team from LABC (Callie Minks, Martha Robertson, Sharon Price, and Keith Stillwell) will be joining others from the Kentucky Baptist Fellowship on a partnership trip to Morocco. The team will be participating in Women's Ministries with various churches throughout Morocco (not Keith), engaging in ministry with African Refugees, continuting our relationship with our partner church in Rabat, and helping with children's curriculum in Rabat (a need identified on the last trip). Callie Minks has agreed to serve as our Morocco Partnership leader and will serve as liaison between LABC and the Rabat Church. So she will be going in that capacity to meet their partnership team and make connections for LABC. In keeping with our future planning for the partnership, most of our Morocco budget for this year will be used for a trip next year, so the team (except for Keith- he is using the ticket he was unable to use last year) will be responsible for most of the expense of this trip. If you would like to provide some financial assistance to any or all members of the team, please contact Keith.

Every Christian is called and gifted by God for ministry. Serving God is fulfilling and enjoyable because the very things we enjoy doing and are able to do are usually the spiritual gifts God calls us to use in ministry. What is your ministry—Leadership? Serving? Teaching? Your Career?

Please Play Our Piano!
The Burberry Tomaschek Piano is now in the church foyer, and Phillip Hickey, the re-builder technician, says it needs to be played often! So we’d like to ask you, if you play piano even a little, to try out this rare piano! It will be unlocked on Sundays from 8:30 a.m. - noon, and you will help break in these new strings/felts, etc. by playing this piano. As it is an antique and built for Classical and Church Music, please play music that is not too demanding or grandiose in style. If you’d like to play the piano during the week, just come by the office and we’ll be glad to open it for you. Thanks for helping to use our new/old piano. We hope to use it more in the future as it gets acclimated to it’s new equipment.
Church Key Return
If you have borrowed church keys that you are no longer using, please return them to the church office. We are running short on keys and it costs the church $5 each to make new ones.
From the Pregnancy Resource Center
The Pregnancy Resource Center is in need of gently used summer clothing for boys sizes newborn--2T and diapers sizes 4 and 5. These are major needs for the Center right now. We ask that you please pray and if God lays it on your heart to donate, you may contact Vicki or Heather at the office 859-236-9282. Thank you for your prayers.
Candles for Glocal Missions Offering
Twelve candles have been placed on the baptistry rail representing our $12,000 Glocal Missions goal. For every $1000 given toward Glocal Missions, a candle will be lighted. The candles will remain throughout the year as we work toward our goal
Morocco Partnership Plans (2013-2016)
A portion of the Global Ministries budget allocated for Morocco partnership trips will be carried over ever other year to support teams from LABC traveling to Morocco and teams from Morocco visiting Kentucky. In 2014 we plan to invite a team from Morocco to visit us in Kentucky and in 2016 we will plan to send a team to Morocco and provide as much financial support for the team as possible. Members are called out and sent to participate in ministry as representatives of the church, supported by the church. Depending on the ministry goals of the trip, priority in allocation of financial assistance will go to those with specific gifts needed for that trip and those who have never been. Kentucky Baptist Fellowship (KBF) promotes partnership trips to Morocco most ever year. Members are encouraged to participate in these trips at their own expense with minimal support from the missions budget when available. This coming fall, Keith will be going to Morocco, with the KBF team, primarily to help the Rabat church with children’s education. The focus of the KBF trip will be Women’s Ministries. It would be helpful for a woman to go and represent LABC and someone (perhaps the same person) with a background in childhood education to go.
2013- Keith and childhood education/KBF and Women’s Ministries
2014- Team from Rabat Morocco church invited to Kentucky
2015- KBF sponsored trip
2016- Team from LABC to Morocco

LABC Tea: “A Cup of Hospitality”
We have our own Elmwood Inn tea label, “A Cup of Hospitality.” The tea will be given to our guests and available for sale to members. The cost is $10 for a container of 15 tea sachets ($10.50 in most stores) or three for $25, available in the church office. For each container sold, $4.00 goes to our Glocal Missions Offering. The label reads: Since our founding in 1927, Lexington Avenue Baptist Church has sought to blend the core values of heritage, worship, music, prayer, spiritual growth, friendliness, caring and missions to give our congregation a unique flavor. In many cultures, tea has been a symbol of friendship, peace and community for centuries. With that ancient tradition of hospitality in mind, we offer this caffeine-free tea, blended with delicious aromatic herbs known for soothing both body and spirit. We invite you to become a part of the hospitable spirit of our Christ-centered community. O taste and see that the Lord is good; happy are those who take refuge in him. Psalm 34:8 (NRSV).

Box Tops for Education: Labels for Oneida
Just a reminder that the Ruth Sunday School Class still collects soup labels and box tops for education labels. As you prepare for your holiday meals, please clip these and bring to our class room. Our goal this year has been 1,000 labels to send to Oneida Baptist Institute, Oneida Ky. So far, we have mailed over 600 labels (that doesn’t count points). A quote from OBI reads: “send us the entire label. Look for Labels for Education tm not only on Campbell’s foods, but also on products such as Vlasic, Franco-American, Prego, Swanson, Pace, and Pepperidge Farm. These labels earn points for us that we can redeem to get free educational equipment. Tyson’s Project A+ tm--send entire labels from specially marked Tyson chicken products. Worth 24 cents each, they return to us as a cash reward. General Mills’ Box tops for Education tm-- Send specially marked box tops. Each is worth 10 cents, and this program also turns points into cash.” This is an easy way for us to help out a wonderful institution carrying the name of Christ to a terrific group of young people as they educate and minister in their lives..--Paula Scott and the Ruth Class
