Pastor's Pen, July 2013

We are happy to welcome Adam Nash as our youth minister.  I hope you have had a chance to meet him and his wife, Amber.  Adam has already been busy helping with Vacation Bible School and is with our youth at Passport Camp in North Carolina this first week of July.  That’s a pretty busy way to begin a new ministry placement.  Pray for Adam and Amber as they learn more about us.  One way to help them out is to tell them your name when you see them.

Later this month our youth will share a farewell gathering with Andrea East and Justin Johnson.  They have done a great job these past few years leading our youth, praying with them, and guiding them through teenage years.  I am so grateful for their ministry with our youth.

Our youth will return from Passport Camp on Friday, July 5, and will share about their experience during worship on July 7th.  I know you’ll want to support them with your presence.  Camp has been a great experience these past few years.

Our kids will be attending PassportKids Camp later in July.  Pray for Tara Farmer, our children’s minister, the chaperones, and the kids as they prepare to leave.

Finally, summer may be a time to be away from school, but for me it is the chance to hit the classroom one more time, at least briefly.  I’ll be participating in a weeklong intensive seminar on leadership at the Baptist Seminary of Kentucky.  It will be lead by Chuck Bugg and Wade Rowatt, two of my former professors.

Thanks for all you do to make Lexington Avenue Baptist Church the presence of Christ in Danville.

Tommy
