Ministry Commitment Sunday, July 29
We would like for all of our members to complete a Ministry Survey, by Sunday, July 29, which is Ministry Commitment Sunday. Your ministry survey will help the Nominating Committee understand your gifts and areas of services.
The Survey will be made available in several ways:
1. Online at www.lexingtonavenue.org/ministry-survey/
2. Inside the July edition of the Key in print
3. Bulletin Insert, July 29
Every Christian is called and gifted by God for ministry. Serving God is fulfilling and enjoyable because the very things we enjoy doing and are able to do are usually the spiritual gifts God calls us to use in ministry. What is your ministry—Leadership? Serving? Teaching? Your Career?
Kay Floyd Memorial Project (Collection Sunday, July 29)
Kay was a dedicated LABC member who lost her life after a long and difficult battle with cancer. She was a beloved teacher in our local schools.Monetary donations and school supplies will be collected for distribution to LABC Preschool, Families First, and Big Brothers/Big Sisters. A collection box for supplies will be located in the hallway near the church office. Monetary donations will be received by GA’s at the end of the July 29 church service or you may donate any time prior to that date. (Indicate ‘Kay Floyd Project’ on checks written.) Our goal for this year, the 7th since Kay’s passing, is $777—since 7 is considered the perfect number in the Bible. Please help us reach that goal. Thanks!

Wednesday Prayer Meeting in August (Time Change)
We been trying something different for our Wednesday Prayer meetings in July. We have been meeting in the Fellowship Hall at noon. We will continue with this schedule in August until the Steakout on Wednesday, August 29. We will not be meeting in the evenings on Wednesdays in August. A light lunch will be provided. We will have a brief Bible study, share prayers for the concerns and the joys of our church family, community, nation, and world, and we will have some great fellowship. A small donation to help offset the cost of the lunch is appreciated but not necessary. Our study is titled “Embracing the Word of God” and will focus on what it means to be a Christian in 21st century world. It will come from the first letter of John. For those of you who work in town or work close enough to drive here let me encourage you to come. We will finish in time for you to get back to work so it would be a great midweek renewal. Invite your colleagues to come as well. Reservations won’t be necessary but if you could call or email Gail (firstname.lastname@example.org) it would help us have a sense of how many to prepare for.

Host Families for International Students
Wanted: Host Families. In late August, Centre will welcome 26 new students from foreign countries, by far our largest group of entering international students ever. Nineteen of these students will arrive from China. In order to make the transition to our country as smooth as possible, we are seeking local families who would serve as “host families” for a couple of these students. From past experience, we know that in order to better understand our culture, international students would like to have some experience with family life in America. Our expectations would not be too demanding and would be spelled out clearly. If you are interested in learning more about this opportunity, please e-mail email@example.com and firstname.lastname@example.org, who will then be in touch with you.
A Sunday Evening Gathering: Prayerful Reading of Scripture
Sundays, 5:00 p.m. in the library (third floor, education building). Join us for a time of prayer, Bible study, and community.
Walking On the “Mild” Side
Join us on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 8:30-9:00 a.m. to improve your health and work off those extra pounds. You can pace yourself with one or two miles, walking at a pace with the music and enjoying the fellowship of others as we follow the directions of Leslie Sansone on her walking DVD. On days that the weather is good, we can choose to walk outside and up through the cemetery. Only thirty minutes to a healthier life.
Friends of Glocal Ministries/Missions Emails

If you would like to receive news, updates, and emails of interest from these areas, send me an email at email@example.com and indicate on which lists you would like to be included.
