Preschool Pre-registration for Church Members
Church members and families may pre-register for LABC Preschool beginning April 2, 2012. Pre-registration forms are available in the church office or online at Completed forms with your $50 pre-registration fee may be turned into the church office and confirmation will be sent. Public registration will be April 24, 1:00-2:00 p.m.

Out of the Box: 2012 KBF Spring Gathering, April 20-21
Join us at Georgetown College as guest preacher, Dr. Matt Cook asks: What if resurrection wasn't just a word?  What if it had implications for how we do Church?  Come find out what it might look like to follow Jesus "outside the box." Our theme will be "Out of the Box: Resurrection Lessons for the Church."  Friday evening, Matt's focus will be "Dead Churches=New Possibilities." On Saturday morning, Matt will share "Out of the Box, Into the World."  Matt will help us think about the changes in Christendom, why we shouldn't be afraid of them, and how the Church lives out the resurrection among the lost and the least. Also: Breakout sessions, Baptist Seminary of Kentucky Banquet, Children’s Choir Festival, Resource Fair, and more.
Five reasons why LABC members will be interested in the Gathering this year: (1) To support and enjoy our children. A number of our children will be involved in the Children’s Choir Festival on Saturday and will sing in the closing worship service at 11:30 a.m. (2) Brittany Stillwell Krebs will lead music in worship, Friday night and Saturday morning and helped plan worship. (3) Fellowship with friends from other Kentucky Baptist Fellowship churches, renew acquaintances and make new friends.(4) Learn about the various mission endeavors we support in breakout sessions, at the resource fair, and in worship. Tommy will be leading a Breakout session. (5) Baptist Seminary of Kentucky banquet on Friday night at 5:00 p.m.

Baptist Seminary of Kentucky Banquet, April 20
Plan now to join Baptist Seminary of Kentucky for their 11th Annual Banquet on Friday, April 20th.  This event will take place during the KBF Spring Gathering at the Bush Fitness Center on the campus of Georgetown College. Dinner will begin at 5:30 pm and reservations are required. Cost $16/person.

Committee & Leadership Team Meetings, Sunday, April 29
All committees, leadership teams, and ministry teams will meet at 6:30 p.m. for a devotional and leadership training focus followed by committee and leadership team meetings. A leadership team meeting will be held at 5:00 p.m. for committee chairpersons, deacon chair, Sunday School division leaders, ministerial staff, and other general leadership. A sandwich supper will be provided for the ministry leadership team.

Nada Mission 2012: Graduation Celebration and More- June 2-3

Graduation Celebration
Once again the primary focus of our mission trip to Nada this year will be the graduation celebration to encourage young people in Nada to stay in school and graduate. We need lots of help planning, setting up, and conducting the celebration which will include, a basketball game, giant inflatables, music, cookout, and more. We hope many of you will join us on this trip, but whether or not you can join us on the trip we need your help with prizes of all sorts. We will have prize drawings to encourage community participation and gifts for the graduates.
On Saturday we will work to clean-up the basketball court and repair the goals, help with whatever is needed for the Nada Mountain Heritage Festival the following weekend, organize and set up for the Graduation Celebration, and any other home repair projects that are needed.
Legend’s Baseball Game
We enjoyed spending time at the Legend’s baseball game last year with our friends from Nada and will do it again this year.

Nada Mountain Heritage Festival, June 9-11
Includes: Craft vendors, food, and some 15 bands singing bluegrass, gospel, and country music. This is an exciting event that will help build community pride in Nada and give residents a chance to earn some money. We are looking for people who could work 2-4 hour shifts and enjoy the festival.
The hours are:  Friday- 12:00-11:00 p.m.; Saturday- 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 p.m.; and Sunday- 12:00-4:00 p.m. Call the church office if you are interested.  We may take a group Friday leaving at 3:00 p.m. and returning around 11:00 p.m.

Recycle Plastic Easter Eggs

Bring your used plastic Easter eggs to the office and we can use them next year.

Youth Weekly
New Wednesday Nights, 6:15 p.m.

Contact Justin. Prayer, Devotion, & Ministry: We'll have ministry planning, youth led devotion, and prayer, along with Rec on certain Wednesday nights and then we’ll be focusing on helping others in the community other Wednesday nights. On ministry nights we will be visiting homebound members and we will be involved in neighborhood business ministry with Papa John’s Pizza.
Sunday Nights, 6:00-8:00 p.m.
Contact Kyle. Youth Dinner, Way To Live Bible study (the book youth received at new seventh grade recognition and highly recommended by Laken), and games. Some nights we will meet in church members’ homes. If anyone is interested in providing a meal on a Sunday night, please contact Kyle.

Youth Meals & Host Homes
The Youth Ministry Team is looking for parents, other church members, or Sunday School classes, to provide meals for the youth meeting on Sunday nights at 6:00 p.m.  We are also looking for host homes for the youth to meet in once a month. The youth enjoy getting to know our church members.

Soup's On Us, 2012
8:30 a.m. - Assemble boxes; 9:30 a.m. - Prepare sandwiches; 10:15 a.m. - Fill food boxes; 11:00 a.m. - Begin deliveries and clean up. “Soup’s On Us” is a weekend food ministry sponsored by Lexington Avenue Baptist Church, Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, First Christian Church, and the Presbyterian Church of Danville. On one Saturday per month we will prepare and deliver meals. Mark these dates and join us for fellowship and ministry through Soup's On Us: May 5, June 2, July 7, Aug. 4, Oct. 6, Nov. 3. We look forward to your generous help with this much needed ministry. A Sunday Evening Gathering: Prayerful Reading of Scripture
Sundays, 5:00 p.m. in the library (third floor, education building). Join us for a time of prayer, Bible study, and community.

Walking On the “Mild” Side   
Join us on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 8:30-9:00 a.m. to improve your health and work off those extra pounds. You can pace yourself with one or two miles, walking at a pace with the music and enjoying the fellowship of others as we follow the directions of Leslie Sansone on her walking DVD. We will continue to meet at LABC during April and May. On days that the weather is good, we can choose to walk outside and up through the cemetery. Only thirty minutes to a healthier life.

Family Night Meals
Please call the church office if you would like to be added to the standing Wednesday night supper list. Please call on Monday before Wednesday night supper to make a reservation if you are not on the standing list or to cancel if you are on the standing list. We now have five supper teams who will be preparing the entire meal most nights (no potluck), so it is very important that we have an accurate count. Prices: Adults and Youth age 12 and up: $5.00; Children age 5-11: $2.00; Children under 5: free

Donations for West Liberty Tornado Victims
Community Action will be receiving donated items for the West Liberty tornado victims. Suggested items are: hand sanitizer, hygiene products such as soap, shampoo, deodorant, feminine hygiene products, garbage bags, tarps, work gloves, crackers, juices, canned meats (tuna, spam etc.), baby wipes and diapers, toiletries, bleach, flashlights and batteries, duck tape, paper towels, peanut butter, Boost and Ensure. Please Do Not bring any clothes. If you have items to donate, take them to Community Action located at 225 W. Walnut (Parking Garage Building).

Box Tops for Education Labels for Oneida
Just a reminder that the Ruth Class continues to collect Box Tops for Education Labels, that we send to Oneida Baptist Institute, Oneida KY. We want to encourage all of our congregation and friends to do the same and bring them to the Ruth Class Sunday School room (302) on the top floor of the education building. You will find them on a multitude of products, but we usually identify them as “soup labels”. The folks at Oneida greatly appreciate them and are able to convert them to much needed items for school. The Ruth class took a field trip in October 2010 to the school and were graciously received. We worshipped with the 6-12 grade student body and faculty, had a wonderful lunch in the cafeteria, were hosted around the grounds and farm, and shopped in the craft shop. Ruth Class President, Joanne Key, presented President Underwood with our annual monetary Christmas gift. We were greatly blessed and impressed with the students, faculty and staff.
