Morocco Refugee Ministry Trip, Sept. 30-Oct. 10

Commissioning Prayer, Sunday, September 25

For Shawna and Keith during morning worship

Morocco Partnership Trip

The Missions Leadership team is sending Shawna Stomberger and Keith Stillwell to Morocco as representatives of Lexington Avenue Baptist Church with a team from the Kentucky Baptist Fellowship, September 30 through October 10. The purpose of this trip will be to observe the work of our partner churches with African refugees, explore future ministry possibilities with refugees including an LABC ministry trip in 2012, and connect with our partner church in Rabat. African refugees in Morocco have fled persecution, war, poverty, and famine in their home countries and find themselves in a desperate situation. Through our partnership with the church in Rabat, we can help. Please pray for Shawna and Keith as they represent Lexington Avenue in Morocco.

Excellent Response to Refugee Care Kits for Morocco

Wow! We have received 95 care kits, 72 bottles of Ibuprofen/Aspirin (most of them 500 count), and 66 boxes of snack baggies. Karen Thomas Smith (University chaplain in Morocco) says, “Good night alive! This is wonderful!” Shawna Stomberger and Keith Stillwell, with the KBF team, will deliver your care kits to African refugees in desperate need. Thank you for your generous gifts. Thanks to our youth group for organizing the kits and other supplies.

French-English Bible for our Friends in Rabat

Lexington Avenue Baptist Church will be presenting our partner church in Rabat, Morocco with a bilingual French-English Bible on Sunday, October 9. We would like for our church family to sign it. The Bible will be available on Sunday, September 25, Wednesday, September 28, and in the office from now until September 28. You may want to add a note in parentheses about your role in the church or something about yourself. For example: Sunday School teacher, deacon, property committee, farmer, business owner, or nurse--Shawna Stomberger (5th & 6th grade Sunday School teacher), David Valentine (Boyle County High School, sophomore, football), etc.
