Have you ever walked across a "swinging bridge?"  As you walk across it, the bridge shakes, or swings.  Sometimes a person behind us jumps up and down just to see if the bridge will hold up. It can be an exciting and scary experience.
Our lives are a lot like swinging bridges.  Sometimes fun, sometimes scary; sometimes life feels very uncertain.  We wonder if we really can hang on.  We worry that the bridge will break.  We wish the other people on the bridge would settle down a bit.  The other side seems a long way off.
In the middle of the uncertainty of our lives there is one certainty we can cling to.  Paul said it like this in Romans 8:

For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

When life seems more like a swinging bridge than solid ground, remember this promise of God and let it be an assurance in your life.

In Christ,
