In this kid-friendly café full of chef's hats and aprons, pots and pans, checkered tablecloths, and chalkboard menus, kids explore the Bible as a cookbook filled with recipes for living out God's word. Boys and girls will celebrate biblical festivals that reveal ingredients for being a follower of God.

Upward Soccer
Upward Sports seeks to provide children with "skills for the sports arena and values for life." While training children with the athletic skills needed to participate at the next level, Upward Sports stresses biblical values—such as leadership, teamwork, integrity and respect—as much as winning. Upward is provided for K-6th grade children. LABC’S children’s ministry is considering having an Upward Soccer team. However, to be able to provide this for our children we will need many volunteers, beginning with a coach. If you are interested please contact Tara or Keith and we can get the ball rolling!!!

VBS: How You Can Help

See Tara Farmer or Shawna Stomberger if you can help
1. Before: pray, distribute publicity, decorate, paint backdrops, coordinate publicity, help with pre-registration
2. During: assist station leaders in music, crafts, recreation, or Bible story, be an actor during Bible story, deaf interpreter, registration, photographer, greeter, make sure children exit safely, pray
3. Decoration Day: Tuesday, June 21, 10:00 a.m.
4. Donate kitchen props (Drop them off at fellowship hall. Put your name on them if you need them back). Suggestions: picnic baskets, patio furniture, checkered tableclothes, yellow pool noodles, Chinese decorations, canisters filled with colorful candy, play food, large appliance boxes, grills, cookbooks, small kitchen appliances, balloons, kitchen/food/restaurant style items for décor.

Planet 56 Vacation Bible School

You’ve heard of the restaurant, Planet Hollywood? Well we have a really cool restaurant called Planet 56, open for business June 26-30, 6:00-8:30 p.m. each night. We are now hiring chefs and managers--must have just completed 4th, 5th, or 6th grade. Join us for a great week. Here’s what’s on the menu: Each day we will have opening assembly, a Bible lesson, and sometimes music, art, or recreation and snacks. Planet 56ers will have these additional activities:
Sunday- Cookin’ with Callie (yeast bread mixing) [Bible theme: The Passover]
Monday- Cookin’ with Callie (make soup & bake bread & eat both) & work with Soup’s On Us ministry [Bible theme: Helping Others]
Tuesday- Healthy Exercise (Exercise fun night at Millennium Park: cycling and/or play) [Bible theme: Believe in Jesus]
Wednesday- Cookin’ with Callie (Cook and eat a tasty healthy meal) [Bible theme: Jesus’ Last Supper]
Thursday- Salty science experiments & dessert: milk shakes and homemade ice cream [Bible theme: You are the salt of the earth]

Hey, Youth!
Here's a quick schedule of what we have planned for this June. Keep in mind it's subject to change, things may be added on.
June 18th - Bible Study
June 21st - Missions: Lunch with our church senior adults in fellowship hall and VBS setup
June 22nd - Neighborhood block party
June 25th - Bible Study
June 26th-30th - VBS from 6:00-8:30
We hope to see you all at our events, bring friends!
Head First Bible Studies, Sunday Nights, 6-8 p.m. at various homes
Includes a meal, some type of extreme and crazy activity along with Bible study and fellowship.
Summer Missions Focus
We will be going to several different places to volunteer and serve others in the community. Stay tuned for dates and places.
PASSPORT Youth Camp, July 3-8, Wingate University, Wingate, NC
For those signed up for Passport Camp, the first payment of $100 is due Wednesday, June 8. You can bring it by the church office or give it to one of the outh ministers anytime before then. The remaining balance can be paid anytime before July 1. Scholarships are available. Contact a youth minister for more information.

Glocal Missions Emphasis 2011

Take part in something big! The Resurrected Jesus commissioned the church, "You shall be my witnesses in Jerusalem, Judea, and Samria and to the ends of the earth" (Acts 1:8).
