Pastor's Pen, May 2011

They say that “April showers bring May flowers!”  If that’s true then we should have plenty of flowers this month.  As we mover ever more swiftly through the Spring season we are beginning to see greater evidence of the change that Spring brings to the outdoor scene.  Not only are flowers and trees blooming and budding and leaves turning green, but we also are beginning to see more of the outdoor activity of people like you and me as we start mowing yards, firing the grill up, and planting the beautiful flowers of May that we hope will be with us through the summer.

It’s a special time of the year.  The same might be said of the Christian year.  Though Easter Sunday has past, there are significant events of the church year ahead of us.  For instance, we will soon see Ascension Sunday, Pentecost Sunday, and Trinity Sunday.  Though they are not accompanied with the fanfare of Easter, they are significant events for all followers of Christ.

So as you celebrate the joy that May brings, look to see the joy that is found as you journey with Christ.

I look forward to seeing you in worship Sunday.
