Soups On Us
Soups On Us is a ministry which provides box lunches for those in need on Saturdays. The Missions Leadership Team is exploring the possibility fo LABC getting involved at some level. The Missions Team will make a report and answer questions at business meeting on April 20.

Journey to the Cross: Online Lenten Devotinal Guide
Available daily on our web home page. The site provides scripture, a meditative thought, prayer, and music from a saxaphone artist for each day of the Lenten season, through April 24 (Easter).

Holy Week, April 17-24
PALM SUNDAY- April 17, 10:45 p.m.
Children will enter waving palms and singing, “Hosanna” with the Sanctuary and Handbell Choirs. Children's rainbow bells will play. Congregation will sing, “All Glory, Laud and Honor,” “When I Survey”, “There is a Fountain,” and “Alas! And Did.” Handbells will play, “Near The Cross” and Sanctuary Choir will sing, “Near The Cross.” Dr. Valentine will be preaching on the Lenten Hymn, “There is a Fountain.”
MAUNDY-THURSDAY SERVICE- April 21, 7:00 p.m.
A time of Reflection on the Crucifixion of Christ. Communion will be served. A vocal ensemble will sing, “Blessed Redeemer”. Dr. Quinn will sing, “Why?”.
CHILDREN'S EASTER CELEBRATION- Saturday, April 23, 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
at the Stillwells. Springtime centers (gardening, birds, crafts, play, and animals), Creek hike for grades 3-6, Easter Worship led by the children, Easter egg hunt.
EASTER SUNDAY- April 24, 10:45 a.m.
We begin our Resurrection Celebration with all worshippers singing, “Because He Lives!” with organ, piano, and instrumental accompaniment. Congregation will also sing, “He is Lord,” “He Lives,” and “Near The Cross.” Easter Choir will sing the Chris Tomlin song, “I Will Rise/Worthy Is The Lamb,” arranged by Ross. The brass, percussion, woodwinds, and stringed instruments will play an arrangement of the hymn.“Higher Ground.” Choral Benediction will be Handel’s “Hallelujah Chorus.”
Seeking Part-time Youth Minister
Lexington Avenue Baptist Church, Danville, KY is seeking part-time Youth Minister to work approximately 20 hours per week. LABC Preschool Pre-registration
Church members and families may pre-register for LABC Preschool beginning March 25. Pre-registration forms are available in the church office or online at lexingtonavenue.org/preschool. Complete forms with your $50 pre-registration fee may be turned into the church office and confirmation will be sent. Public registration will be April 19, 1:00-2:00 p.m.
Week of Friendship, May 9-15
Between the Protestant Church in Rabat and Lexington Avenue Baptist Church in Danville. Will include: daily ministry focus and prayer requests; home Bible study, prayer and fellowship (10th); prayer partners with friends in Rabat; prayer meeting (11th); day of prayer and fasting (13th); day of service with “Soups On Us” (14th); Common Service with Karen Thomas Smith preaching and video music and greetings from Rabat, Morocco (15th). Our partner church in Rabat will engage in similar activities during the week.
Morocco Prayer Partners-Sign up by Wednesday, April 20
As a part of our Week of Friendship (May 9-15) with our partner church, the Protestant Church in Rabat, Morocco, we are encouraging members of LABC to pair up with members of the church in Rabat for a week of sharing prayer requests and conversation by way of email and facebook. Call the church office to sign up and we’ll pair you with someone in Rabat. But what if I don’t’ speak French? That’s okay. Most of our Rabat friends speak English and there are online translators we can show you how to use.
LABC & Rabat, Morocco Prayer Requests
As a part of our partnership with the EEAM church in Rabat, Morocco, the LABC Mission team will send to the Morocco church, our prayer requests that they will share on Friday evening at their weekly prayer meeting, and they will send their prayer requests to us each week before our weekly prayer meeting on Wednesday evening. If you have suggestions that we might send to please give those to Kitty Baird or Marian Gibson on Wednesday evening.
McCreary County Extreme Build, June 10-18, 2011
Kentucky Baptist Fellowship is pleased to announce our 6th year of Extreme Build in McCreary County. Extreme Build is KBF’s annual homebuilding project in which volunteers construct an affordable home for a low-income family. We will build our 6th home June 10-18, 2011. The 2011 Extreme Build family is the Privett’s-Jerry, Geneva and their children Kesha and Zachary. Jerry and Geneva were born and has fallen down over the years. A new home will help them care more for their family. The Privetts are excited to be a part of the Extreme Build partnership and look forward to achieving their dream of home ownership. Children’s Missions: An Open House in Florida
Wednesdays at 6:45 p.m. in April. RAs, GAs, Missions Friends, and Planet56 learn about Open House Ministries in Homestead, Florida.
Upward Sports seeks to provide children with "skills for the sports arena and values for life." While training children with the athletic skills needed to participate at the next level, Upward Sports stresses biblical values—such as leadership, teamwork, integrity and respect—as much as winning. Upward is provided for K-6th grade children. LABC’S children’s ministry is considering having an Upward Soccer team. However, to be able to provide this for our children we will need many volunteers, beginning with a coach. If you are interested please contact Tara or Keith and we can get the ball rolling!!!

We have some gaps in our schedule that need to be filled. Please consider being part of our rotation to help with the children ages 3 -5, or if you are already on rotation and can pick up an extra week please let Gail or Tara know.
Children's Easter Celebration, Saturday, April 23, 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. at the Stillwells’
Gardening: Help farmer Stillwell plant his garden. Take home a pot of dirt and seed to grow at home
Birds: Feed the birds and make a bird feeder
Animals: See and pet some interesting animals
Crafts:Use your artistic ability to make a cool craft--thumb print art
Play: Play in the castle, swing on the tire swing, have some fun with bubbles, and more
Nature Hike for Children in Grades 3-6: While the younger children are experiencing springtime centers, children in grades 3-6 may take a supervised hike (climb) down to the creek. Wear clothes that will get dirty.
Farm Eggs: Farmer Bob and Jenny live next to the Stillwells. The chickens are laying eggs just for you. If you would like a dozen farm fresh, bring $2.50 with you to the Easter Celebration. You might tell Keith or call the church office if you are interesting so we can be sure we have enough.
