Operation Christmas Child Takes Off

Operation Christmas Child Presentation and Video
Wednesday, October 12, 7:00 p.m.
in fellowship hall

Operation Christmas Child is fast approaching with the week of November 14-21st being the final week for receiving the boxes. As always, the boxes and instructions will be available in the hall that connects the sanctuary and the Sunday School rooms. Many of you prefer to use the plastic boxes with snap on lid, so feel free to use them instead of the boxes provided.

I wish everyone could have attended the “Shoe Box Countdown” event at Junction City on Sunday, September 25 and experienced first hand the inspiring service, speakers, and videos showing the excited chldren opening their boxes with an enthusiasm and joy that deeply touched my heart. In our own land of plenty, it’s hard to imagine that a box of small toys could be received with such happiness and gratitude.

But this growing world wide ministry is much more than a distribution of toy filled boxes. Included in each box is a little booklet that clearly explains the plan of salvation in the child’s native language.

Even more significant is the twelve week follow-up study of Bible stories and lessons that help the child to understand the full meaning of what it means to be a Christian. The children eagerly anticipate these lessons which are taught by trained members of their own villages.

On Wednesday evening, October 12 at 7:00 p.m. you will have an opportunity to view these inspiring videos and learn more about this wonderful ministry which is truly fulfilling the purpose of the Great Commission in our world today.
