Missions in our local Danville/Boyle County community (our Jerusalem).

The Missional Church
Everything the church does, including worship, Bible study, discipleship, prayer, decision making, and relationships, is a part of God's mission in the world and is meant to be an example of life as God intends. Lexington Avenue Baptist Church is one of God's mission centers in Danville/Boyle County.

"A church with a mission program usually sees mission as one activity alongside many activities of the church - Christian education, worship, acts of service, hospitality and other programs. A missional church focuses all of its activities around its participation in God's mission in the world. That means, it trains people for discipleship and witness; it worships and practices mutual support before the watching world. A church with a mission sends others to witness on its behalf. A missional church understands that the congregation itself is sent by God to proclaim and to be a sign of the reign of God. Just as God sent Jesus, now Jesus sends the church (Jn.20:21)." Neighborhood Ministry
Neighborhood ministry is our attempt show neighborly love to those living, literally, on our street and across the street from the church and in a nearby apartment complex. Ministry includes an annual Neighborhood Block Party in the Spring and a Fall Festival in the church parking lot, delivery of loaves of bread and our Holy Week Devotion Guide, and Backyard Bible Clubs for children.

Community Thanksgiving Feast
Each Thanksgiving Day our church along with others in the community hosts a Thanksgiving Feast for anyone in the community who is not able to provide their own or for anyone who would just like the fellowship.

LABC Outreach Plan
The LABC Outreach Plan is our system for welcoming guests to our services and reaching out to our community. LABC Outreach Plan (PDF)

Lexington Avenue Baptist recreational sports teams seek not only to have fun, compete, and exercise, but also to be a witness on the court or field of play. For example teams may share gifts like water bottles, GaterAid, or Sports New Testaments. Participants on LABC sports teams are asked to sign a Sports Covenant. LABC Sports Covenant (PDF)
