Saturday, Fourth Week of Advent: Love
December 27, 2014

No one has seen God at any time.  If we love one another, God abides in us, and His love has been perfected in us.  1 John  4:12

“Jesus loves me.  This I know, for the Bible tells me so”  Do you remember the very first time you heard those words?  Nor do I, but I think I realized the validity of this phrase before I realized that I must breathe in and out to sustain my life.

Beloved if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.  1 John  4:11

Just to be tender,  just to be true,
Just to be glad the whole day through;
Just to be merciful, just to be mild,
Just to be trustful as a child.
Just to be gentle and kind and sweet,
Just to be helpful and willing feet.
Just to let love be our daily key,
That is God’s will for you and me.

Prayer:   God, thank you for everything you give us – your Love, Hope, Peace, and Joy.  Amen.

God so loved the world that he gave his son so that everyone who believeth on him may not perish but have eternal life.  John 3:16

The theme of Jesus’ coming was to show God’s love for us.  As we move through this Advent season let us keep before us this truth that God loves us.  What would our world be like if all were at peace and love with family and friends!

Prayer:  God of Love, God of Hope, God of Promise, open our hearts to your will and may it be done in all the world.  Amen.

Christmas Eve

. . . and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son.  She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.  Luke 2:7 NIV

The  waiting is over.  Children can hardly be still enough to go to bed, anxious to see the gifts that will be left under the tree.

God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only son so that whosoever believes in him may not be lost, but have eternal life.  John 3:16

Love is a powerful word and I might add, a beautiful word.  We love our family, our friends, our relatives and even our pets.  Sometimes it’s very hard to love someone who has been unkind to us or said unkind things about us.  We are all brothers and sisters in Christ.

Love is an odd concept. It is not tangible, but you can feel it emotionally towards another person or from another person. It is not a miracle medicine that cures diseases, but it helps one to go through such an awful experience, knowing that you have someone by your side cheering you on.

Light the Candle of Love

To him who is able to keep you from falling and to present you before his glorious presence without fault and with great joy – to the only God our Savior be glory, majesty,  power and authority, through Jesus  Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and  forevermore! Amen. (Jude 24, 25)

When I was five years old, I was told by my aunt whom I was visiting that night about Jesus coming back to earth.  He would be on a big white beautiful cloud and an angel would be blowing a trumpet.  I started crying and told her I was afraid He would come that night and I would not be home with my Mom and Dad.  That is a vivid memory.
