Friday, First Week of Advent: Hope
December 5, 2014

“Eternal life is set before us in the promise; the Spirit works faith in us, and hope of that life; faith and hope bring it near, and filled with joy in expectation of it”

We shall be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.  Titus 3:7

Eternal life is an inheritance and is not earned by works.  It is a divine gift.  God gives it of his own free will and it belongs only to his children.  God adopts us and this is his gracious legacy.

We are justified by the grace of God and are heirs of eternal life through salvation.  Jesus is God’s truth in the flesh.  He is the embodiment of God’s  goodness and kindness.

We are saved from sin in order to be people who belong to Christ.  And this inspires us to do his good deeds.

Prayer: Dear God, our hope is based on our faith in your son and our trust in your promise.  May we be ever hopeful, as it is hope that binds us close to you and keeps us working in your kingdom on earth.  Amen.
