Saturday, Third Week of Advent: Joy
December 20, 2014
…and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart . . .Jeremiah 15:16
In June, Women on Mission went to the Galilean Home in Liberty, Kentucky. It was a wonderful and inspiring trip. The residents met us with smiles and gifts. They gave us a tour of the home and grounds and seemed to be so proud of the facilities.
Particularly inspiring was the Angel House. There were babies in strollers, swings, cradles and some in the arms of their caretakers. Not a baby cried for the hour or more that we were there. The caretakers appeared to be equally happy attending to these little ones. How can so much joy emanate from such “unjoyful” situations. Some of these babies were abandoned by their parents. Some were in the home because Mom and Dad couldn’t take care of them. Others were there because Jerry and Sandy saw a need and took them in providing them a loving home. Jesus said, “Inasmuch as you have done it unto one of the least of these you have done it unto me.” Matthew 25:45
The ladies in Women on Mission came home filled with joy because they had seen joy all around them on that June day.
Prayer: Loving God, we thank you for the joy that comes from caring for your little ones. Amen
