Second Week of Advent: Peace
Tuesday, December 11, 2012
"Therefore, now that we have been justified through faith, we are at peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ." Romans 5:1 (REB)
On the night that Christ was born the angels sang of God’s peace to all men who would accept it (Luke 2:14). Although God could have justly destroyed man because of his sin, He mercifully chose the good news of peace through Christ (Acts 10:36). On the other hand, Christ said that he did not come to bring peace on earth, knowing that his coming would cause dissension among religious leaders and political leaders, as well as divisions within families and between individuals (Luke 12:51-53). Those who do right and seek Christ will find peace in Him (John 16:33; Romans 2:10).
