Fourth Week of Advent: Love
Monday, December 24, 2012

Christmas Eve is a magical time.  All that we have dreamed about and hoped for during these last few weeks finally comes together.  We may not get that present we wished for but somehow that doesn’t matter now.  There is something more for us this night.  There is something greater, more enduring, more meaningful, if we can just open our lives to receive it.  It is the gift of Christ for each and every one of us.
For some of us that gift brings hope to our lives.  For some of us the gift surrounds us with God’s peace.  For others, there is a profound joy present this day.  And for some we find ourselves embraced in God’s love.
Today may be filled with last minute shopping, cooking for family and friends, tying the bows on the last gifts, or squeezing in one more trip to see Christmas lights.  May we as well take the time to let this day be filled with the presence of Christ.

“But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid! Listen, I bring you glorious news of great joy which is for all the people.”  Luke 2:10 J. B. Phillips New Testament
