Second Week of Advent: Peace
Monday, December 10, 2012
“The Lord bless you; and keep you;
The Lord make His face shine upon you;
And be gracious to you;
The Lord lift up His countenance upon you,
And give you PEACE.”
The above words may be familiar because this blessing is still pronounced in our church today. But do we grasp its full meaning? The Lord, the Creator Himself is speaking. His very name and character guarantee that He can give the promised PEACE. He graciously wants to bestow it on every one of us.
But everything has its price. PEACE is no exception. It cannot be bought with money, yet a high price was paid for it. It cost Someone His life. The Son of God died on a cross in order that there would be PEACE between God and people, PEACE with each other and PEACE with themselves.
So PEACE is a gift. It is given to those who want to accept it, and have a personal relationship with God. God extends the offer. The acceptance depends on each of us.
A local banker has a wooden sign on his desk that has these words carved into it.”
No Christ No PEACE
Know Christ Know PEACE
