Light the Candle of Peace

Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Jesus Christ for you.  I Thessalonians 5:16-18  NRSV

Pray?

Pray without ceasing?

What reminds us to pray without ceasing?

Of all God has created, I have a reminder to pray that I find special.
Cats.
Specifically the purr of a cat.
A cat can purr for a seemingly endless amount of time.
Scientists aren’t sure how a cat purrs.
That is another of God’s mysteries.
It’s not in and out, it’s constant.
That vibrating sound soothes my soul.
Can’t hear that sound?
Just place a hand on that creation.
Feel that vibration?
It’s just as amazing and soothing.
I always get that reminder of the wonder of creation from a purr.
A little spark of that wonder reminds me to pray without ceasing.
I thank the Lord for the reminders He sends you and me.
