Scripture: Luke 2:1-7

The Birth of Jesus

Opening presents is fun, exciting, and in some ways important because giving presents is one way we help people be happy.  Giving presents is also a way to show people we love them.  I always look forward to opening my Christmas gifts.  But presents are not as important as the birth of Jesus.

The birth of Jesus is important because if he wasn’t born everybody would be doing stuff they shouldn’t be doing like murdering, stealing, breaking the Sabbath, and stuff like that.  It’s important that Jesus was born because he taught us to love and care for each other, to observe the Sabbath, and treat people nice.

Some of my favorite things about Christmas are when I go to church and we light the candles and wave them in the air.  Another thing I like is when I get to put the ornaments on the tree.  What are your favorite things about Christmas?

Remember the real meaning of this night not because of presents but because of the birth of Jesus.
