Thursday, First Week of Advent: Hope
December 5, 2013

Hold firmly to the HOPE placed before us.  We have this HOPE as an anchor for our lives.  It is safe and sure.   Hebrews 6:18,19

Sarah Young in her devotional book, “Jesus Calling” visualizes hope as part of a strong golden chain made when three gold chains – trusting, waiting and hoping – are intertwined.  Trusting is the central strand because believing in Him is the response God wants most in His children.  Our waiting for God to work in us is evidence that we do trust Him.  Hope is future – directed, and requires us to hold on with patient expectation that what we hope for now will happen someday.  Examples:  We hope for a job or a better job, and we get the one we wanted most . . . We hope for a loved one to recover from an illness or surgery, and he/she enjoys good health again . . . We hope for a relationship with a friend will improve, and fellowship is restored.  All these are examples of hope.
