Tuesday, Fourth Week of Advent: Love
December 24, 2013
The Christmas season doesn’t get too far along before my mind is flooded with memories of Christmases past. From the time I hear the season’s first Christmas song to the day I put away the last ornament, events from years past come and go through my mind. Many of them seem like they occurred only yesterday.
I wonder if Mary and Joseph did the same as they traveled to Bethlehem. Did they recall previous journeys with family to other villages? Did they recall stories told by their families? Did Mary remember the day the angel came to her and said, “Don’t be afraid”?
This night we remember the grace and love God has given us all through the gift of his son, Jesus. There has never been, there will never be, a greater gift given to us.
Enjoy the memories. Give thanks to God for the stories you share as a family this evening. And remember God’s great love for you.
God, thank you for the greatest gift I have ever received. Help me to share your gift with others. Amen
