Thursday, Third Week of Advent: Joy

Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old, he will not depart from it. Proverbs 22:6
One day last summer our six-year-old great grandson, Joshua, came running into the house to have lunch. He had been to Vacation Bible School at his church. After the blessing was said he looked at me and said, “Did you know Jesus died on the cross to save us from our sins?” The joy in my heart was so great I don’t remember my reply.
God bless those wonderful teachers who give of their time and talents to train our children.
Prayer: Dear God, thank you for the faith of little children. And thank you for teachers who are instrumental in bringing these little ones to a saving knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
Note: The year, 2013, marks the 10th year that the Joy class has sponsored the Advent Devotional Book. Dorothy Coleman Renfro, a charter member of LABC, was instrumental in starting the Joy class. Consequently, I felt it fitting to include the devotional Dorothy wrote for our first book (2004). Dorothy died October 22, 2005 and she is remembered with joy by remaining members of the Joy class..
